Well there were two purposes to this adventure of mine
First to ride thru as many states as possible on my way to getting all 50 and Second to visit my friends Mark and Charlyne at their hacienda south of Houston for their Gathering of The Fools charity BBQ.
This morning was overcast and cool and I rode over at 9am to their place. I had considered going with some folks in their car to Galveston but since nobody was there that was doing that I went with WIZ (Duane) and 22 other bikers on a grand ride to Galveston and the outer strand back and forth over bayou country and along the gulf
Waves were breaking pretty high from the strong wind off the water and after about 90 miles we stopped for lunch by a drawbridge watching huge oil barges being pushed by tugboats from intracoastal to the gulf.
With the wind picking up and the hour getting late we headed back and arrived before 3pm to socialize, tell lies and generally have a great time
Here are some pics
Wiz on his bike, great custom paint job
edit Sadly Wiz passed away since the ride from non motorcycle related causes. RIP my friend
Dan Mayer (note the squirrel on the back of the bike) the famous author and Dragon rider
Earky Bird, Bruce e (DDT) and Valkahuna in the food shot
TP and Nancy. Note Tom almost smiling GOTYA smiling TP. Payback is a bitch lol
One of dozens of brisket also chicken and sausages
Donna and Rusty. Had not seen them in years and it was good to talk with them. Hope to see them in Ashville in June at the Insane rally.
I got outbid but bought a slice from Hayhauler. He is behind me in the shot of me enjoying the 1st bite. Thanks Lori for baking 7 pies ! You are a great baker and I love being a part of convincing you to make good food !
Clint Peters made some awesome leather work. The flask holder is 64 ounces
Rainmaker and his friend
Got to talk with so many good people who share a love of living life and just being around other like minded folks. I always feel uplifted when I come to a Valkyrie gathering and am looking forward to the next one
Tomorrow I am riding out with some folks from Tennessee Big Al, T Bird, Dan from NJ and and whoever else is ready to leave at 7am. I would like to get around Birmingham, maybe as far as Gadsden, Alabama. We will see how bad the thunderstorms and (shudder) the wind is tomorrow. I have not had a wind free day since Arkansas
Hope you all are enjoying my travels. Its been fun so far
