This morning I headed over to the America’s Best Value hotel to meet Dan from NJ and three Tennessee riders including Big AL and T Bird.
We rode 610 to 10 to 12 east and were dry for the first three hundred miles then the bottom fell out of the sky. I will say this for the wild bunch, they are not deterred by a little rain but they sure do need their coffee breaks.
Not really understanding running at 90 mph of you are going to stop for 10-15 minutes every 100 miles T birds helmet tells the story…. He is not speeding, he is qualifying. If I was to go a flat 80 and stop every 130 miles for 5 minutes I am making better time and getting better mileage but I really was appreciating the company and riding in a tight group with good riders is fun.
The Tennessee boys pulled off the road a few times for the heavy rain and I replaced that fuse again in my aux panel; if the fog lights are on while I engage the 4 way flashers the fuse blows. Lesson learned. And I replaced the 15 amp fuse with a 20 amp fuse.
Around Hattiesburg the boys left us and Dan and I continued north in the often heavy rain, We made it to Tuscaloosa, Alabama about 620 miles, That leaves me with about 1050 to go, too much for one day especially in the rain. So I will continue probably to northern Virginia while I believe Dan will push on home.
We got rooms here and walked over to Hooters where I got some pictures to post. Our waitress was not old enough to drink and bless her heart she proofed me and Dan. Hope to be home Tuesday night and be able to dry out for work Wednesday.
